HOT
QB
Philip Rivers – After 4 weeks Rivers is averaging 224 yards
and 1.5 TD’s per game. In week 5 he goes on the road to face Drew Brees and the
Saints. The Saints are home and they are
mad. This has all the ingredients of a high scoring affair. The Saints are
allowing the 5th most fantasy points to QB’s.
Honorable mentions: Christian
Ponder and Alex Smith
RB
Cedric Benson – Following week 4 the Green Bay coaching
staff declared Benson their ‘work horse’ and that doesn’t figure to change
against the Colts this week. The Packers
are clicking on offense and once they’ve got their lead, they figure to lean on
Benson going up against a Colts Defense allowing the 8th most
fantasy points to RB’s.
Michael Bush – Bush is facing the Jaguars and they allow the
3rd most fantasy points to RB’s and Forte may be rested should Chicago
get up early. With Bush’s goal line work
against this bad run defense he could be a serviceable flex play.
Honorable mentions: Ryan
Mathews AND Jackie Battle
WR
Domenik Hixon – Hakeem Nicks has been ruled out and Ramses
Barden may not play due to concussion. Cleveland allows the 3rd most
fantasy points to WR’s and Joe Haden is still out. He’s a rock solid flex play
with WR2 upside.
James Jones – Greg Jennings has been ruled out and James
Jones will start for one of the best QB’s in the league. Some people say he is
inconsistent and point out his game against the Bears; however the whole
Packers offense was “inconsistent” that night. Jones is solid flex with WR2
upside as well.
Honorable mentions: Michael
Crabtree and Robert Meachem
TE
Kyle Rudolph – I’m looking for a bounce back game from
Rudolph, who caught just 2 balls for 8 yards last week against Detroit. This
week he faces the Titans and they allow the most fantasy points to TE’s.
Honorable mentions: Joel
Dreessen and Anthony Fasano
NOT
QB
Michael Vick – Vick is facing the Steelers coming off their
bye on the road. The Steelers get back Troy Polamulu and James Harrison. Steelers
Defense has had 2 weeks to prepare after a bad loss to Raiders.
Watch out: Cam Newton
RB
Chris Johnson – CJhmmK had a blow out performance by his
2012 standards, but this week faces a Vikings defense that allows the 2nd
fewest fantasy points to RB’s. I think Hasselbeck helps him, but it’s still the
same O-line. I’d like to see them do it two weeks in a row.
Watch out: Maurice Jones-Drew and Panthers RB’s
WR
Marques Colston – Lance Moore is not likely to play and the
Chargers are limiting fantasy WR’s to the 10th fewest points. With the Chargers focusing just on Jimmy
Graham and Colston look for the receiving damage to be done by Darren Sproles.
Watch out: DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin
TE
Antonio Gates – The Saints give up tons of points to WR’s
and RB’s but they’ve allowed the fewest points to fantasy TE’s.
Watch out: Jermichael Finley
