QB

Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford is the easy choice at QB this week on FanDay. The main reasons are because Stafford is facing a Bears Defense that has allowed the second most points, second most passing yards and THE most passing touchdowns to fantasy QBs through Week 15.  Additionally, Stafford has only the 13th highest QB salary at $7,900.

RB

Tre Mason

Tre Mason at home for $4,600 is a steal against a Giants defense allowing the 7th most fantasy points and 8th most rushing yards to fantasy RBs. Mason affords some surplus to splurge on some higher ceiling stud WRs.

Jeremy Hill

Up until last week the Denver rush defense had been pretty stout against the run, but will enter Week 16 without two of their stud linebackers (Trevathan and Marshall) due to injuries.  In Week 15 Hue Jackson named Jeremy Hill the starter and he doubled up the snaps of fellow RB Giovani Bernard, amassing 148 yards rushing for a 5.9 avg. and 2 touchdowns. The Bengals will lean on the run with the Broncos linebackers out and the mentality of keeping Manning off the field. Jeremy Hill should return high end RB2 value at a low end RB3 salary of $4,600.

WR

Calvin Johnson

I’m all about bass, that bass, sorry…. that Stafford/Megatron stack this weekend.  We’ve already seen the bowl of gravy Stafford is bringing to the Christmas dinner table, but let’s see how Calvin’s matchup ranks? The Bears are giving up the 5th most fantasy points, 2nd most receiving yards and 3rd most receiving touchdowns to WRs over the last 4 weeks. Overall through 15 weeks, the Bears have allowed the 10 most fantasy points to WRs. Those RB savings are already paying MEGAtron dividends.

Jordy Nelson

Aside from the fact that this is a get right game for Aaron Rodgers and the whole Packer offense, it’s time to pay up for Jordy’s 8th highest WR salary and set it and forget it.  The Buccaneers have given up the 7th most fantasy points and 4th most receiving touchdowns to WRs over 15 weeks.

Kenny Stills

In just slightly the highest over under for the weekend, I had to find a share of this game and Kenny Stills for $4,500 was screaming, PICK ME!  While the Saints at home mystique is starting tarnish, the Falcons Defense is rusting. Through 15 weeks the Falcons are giving up the 5th most fantasy points and THE most receiving yards to fantasy WRs. In a potential shootout with major playoff implications, Kenny Stills has high end WR2 potential for a low end WR3 salary.

TE

Martellus Bennett

In Jimmy Clausen’s first start against a defense that gives up the 4th fewest points to QBs and without WR Brandon Marshall, Jimmy is going to lean heavily on Martellus Bennett because through 15 weeks, the Lions defense has allowed the 5th most receptions to TEs. Bennett’s salary is the 6th highest, but the TE pool is very shallow.

K

Shayne Graham

The Saints actually signed a kicker to the practice squad this week, but I think it was just a case of sending a message from Coach Sean Payton with Shayne Graham kicking just 50% on field goals the last two weeks. Again, like Kenny Stills, this is slightly the highest over under for the week and with Graham the CHEAPEST kicker at FanDay for Week 16, that’s highway robbery.

DST

The Lions have only the 13th highest DST salary this week but that seems like a very good value against a backup like Jimmy Clausen, making his first regular season start since 2010. The Lions have given up the 4th fewest points to fantasy QBs AND RBs along with the 8th fewest to WRs over the last 15 weeks. They should feast on The Jimmy who will likely be planted in the ground by Ndamukong Suh before halftime.
